The 'Not Racist But...' Brigade

It may have caught your attention that the English Defence League (EDL) have started to become more active in the Isle of Thanet. EDL demonstrators were reported to have been handing out anti-Islamic propaganda outside a local mosque last week and there was also a gathering at an unnamed Margate seafront pub to 'decry sharia law and the perceived erosion of the English way of life.'

The group is reported as saying that they aren't racist and Thanet EDL leader Pat Riot argued they only want to "highlight radical Islam through peaceful protests." Fair enough, you might say, were it not for the fact that Asians have been known to be assaulted by EDL supporters and that Riot's fellow EDL revellers in Margate were overheard referring to 'dirty Pakis.'

I'm a bit lost for words on this subject. Maybe some music will help:

  1. Maybe TDC's "Diversity Champion" will look into this?

  2. Had to laugh at EDL. Their speakers on stage in Stoke were berating the face covering hijab. Whilst wearing masks to conceal their own identities !
